GOLF - 2011

Jock Stein Memorial Tournament

This tournament is a friendly get together with the other 3 Celtic Clubs in the Durham, Scarborough (Toronto #1 ), St Catharine’s and Bramalea.

The tournament this year was at Copper Creek in Kleinburgh August 20th,. Our special guest of honour was Bertie Auld who graced our presence and made the charity hole full of laughs for all. For the most part the weather cooperated untill the end of the day.

Collectively we raised $1,800.00 for the charity of Oxfam – East Africa Famine Appeal We had the amount converted to UK pounds for a donation of £1,070 to be forward on behalf of the four clubs to the Oxfam charity, and have given it to Bertie Auld to present to Oxfam on our behalf of the four clubs.

The winner of this years tournaments - St Catharine's , congratulations to John Burke and team.

Club Championship

The club Championship was held on July 16^th at Mayfield golf club on a beautiful and ward Saturday afternoon. This year’s tournament we had 55 golfers made up of 35 club members and our 20 guests. Special thanks to our specials guests from Aurora Celtic club and the Kelly family from Ireland.

Congratulations to this years Club winner John Breslin who shot a 78 and to Tony Dolphin who was the low net winner with a 67.

Andy Rumsby Tournament

The tournament was held July 30th at Mayfield Golf course. year we had a lowest turn out in many a year of just over 80 golfers.

Dog with Wings. A charity program that raises money for trained guide dogs for children with Autism. The dog becomes the child guardian angel in a way and helps the children.

This year tournament ended in a draw which came down to the last group playing to decide the final outcome.

The annual competition with the Bramalea Rangers Club to raise money for local charity, Dog with Wings last year was a great success, as year we were able to raise over 4,000 dollars. Thanks to all the golfers who came out and made this an excellent day for all .
