THE CELTIC SONG
Hail! Hail! The Celts are here!
What the hell do we care, What the hell do we care,
Hail! Hail! The Celts are here!
What the hell do we care now.
For it's a grand old team to play for,
For it's a grand old team to see,
And if you know the history,
It's enough to make yer heart go oh oh oh oh,
We don't care what the animals say,
What the hell do we care,
For we only know that there's gonna be a show,
And the Glasgow Celtic will be there.
For it's the best darn team in Scotland,
And the players all are grand,
We support the Celtic,
As they are the finest in the land - God bless them,
We'll be there to give the Bhoys a cheer,
When the league flag flies,
And the cheers go up when we know the Scottish Cup,
Is coming home to rest in Paradise.
It's coming home to rest in Paradise!
THE FIELDS OF ATHENRY
By a lonely prison wall,
I heard a young girl calling,
Michael they have taken you away,
For you stole Trevelyn's corn,
So the young might see the morn,
Now a prison ship lies waiting in the bay.
chorus
Low lie the fields of Athenry,
Where once we watched the small free birds fly,
Our love was on the wing,
We had dreams and songs to sing,
It's so lonely round the fields of Athenry.
By a lonely prison wall,
I heard a young man calling,
Nothing matters Mary when you're free,
Against the Famine and the Crown,
I rebelled they ran me down,
Now you must raise our child with dignity.
chorus
By a lonely harbor wall,
She watched the last star falling,
As the prison ship sailed out against the sky,
For she'll wait and hope and pray,
For her love in Botany Bay,
Its so lonely round the fields of Athenry.
chorus
Four Leaf Clover (Eddie O'Neil's Song )
Chorus
With the four leaf clover on my breast
And the green and white upon my chest
Its such a joy for us to see
For they play football the CELTIC way.
It's been ten years, long time indeed
We stood with pride and took defeat
Our beloved team, our ancient ground
Has been rebuilt, our love reborn
Chorus
McCann he wrote the winds of change
And the things he brought will long remain
A phoenix rising, a house of steel
And sixty thousand CELTIC dreams.
Chorus
The work is done and the stage is set
The CELTIC dream can now be met
In a sea of green we're here today
To sit and watch the champions play

Wille Maley
Willie Maley was his name,
he brought some great names to the game,
when he was the boss at Celtic Park.
he taught them how to play football,
he made the greatest of them all,
Gallagher and Quinn have left their mark.
Chorus
And they gave us James McGrory and Paul McStay,
they gave us Johnstone, Tully, Murdoch, Auld and Hay,
and most of the football greats,
have passed through Parkhead's gates,
for to play football the Glasgow Celtic way.
In '38 there was a show, Glasgow was the place to go,
a model of the Tower was football's prize.
England sent four of the best,
They didn't meet with much success,
And the trophy ended up in Paradise.
Chorus
Coronation time was here, 53 that was the year,
another 4 from England met their doom,
they said we'll have to try again,
but like before it was in vain,
because the cup is in the Parkhead trophy room.
Chorus
And then in 1957, we faced a guy called Gorgie Nevin
the game is etched on every Celtic fan
Wilson, Mochan and McPhail,
and Willie Fernie scored as well
As Celtic beat the Rangers 7-1
Chorus
So 10 years they had gone and so,
To Lisbon town we had to go,to play the team that Italy adore,
Celtic went out to attack,
they won the big Cup and they brought it back,
It's the first time it had been on British shores.
Chorus

The Holy Ground
Fare thee well my lovely Dinah, a thousand times adieu
For we're going away from the Holy Ground and the girls we all love true
We will sail the salt sea over and then return for sure
To see again the girls we love and the Holy Ground once more
Chorus
Fine girl you are!
You're the girl I do adore
and still I live in hopes to see the Holy Ground once more
Fine girl you are!
And now the storm is raging and we are far from shore
And the good old ship is tossing about and the riggin' is all tore
And the secret of my mind, my love, you're the girl I do adore
And still I live in hopes to see the Holy Ground once more
Chorus
And now the storm is over and we are safe and well
We will go into a Public House and we'll sit and drink like hell
We will drink strong ale and porter and we'll make the rafters roar
And when our money is all spent we'll go to sea once more
Chorus
|
YOU'LL NEVER WALK
ALONE
When you walk through a storm,
Hold your head up high,
And don't be afraid of the dark,
At the end of a storm, there's a golden sky,
And the sweet silver song of a lark.
Walk on through the wind,
Walk on through the rain,
Though your dreams be tossed and blown...
Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart,
And you'll never walk alone,
You'll never walk alone!
Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart,
And you'll never walk alone,
You'll never walk alone!
OVER AND OVER
Chorus
O-ver and O-ver, we will follow you,
O-ver and O-ver, we will see you through,
We are Celtic supporters, faithful through and through,
and over and over, we will follow you.
If you go to Germany,
you will see us there,
France or Spain its all the same,
We'll go anywhere,
We'll be there to cheer you,
as you travel round,
you can take us anywhere, we won't let you down.
Chorus
If you go to Lisbon, we'll go once again,
In Zaire you'll find us there calling out your name,
when you need supporting, you will always know,
we'll be right there with you, every where you go.
Chorus
THE JOHNNY THOMPSON SONG
A young lad named John Thompson,
From the West of Fife he came,
To play for Glasgow Celtic,
And to build himself a name
On the 5th day of September,
Against the Rangers club he played,
From defeat he saved the Celtic,
Ah but what a price he paid.
The ball comes on the centre too,
But John runs out and dies,
The ball rolls by but John lies still,
For his club this hero died.
I took trip to Parkhead,
To the dear old Paradise,
And as the players came out,
Sure the tears fell from my eyes.
For a famous face was missing,
From the Green and White Brigade,
And they told me Johnny Thompson,
The last game he has played.
Farewell my darling Johnny,
Prince of players we must part,
No more we'll stand and cheer you,
On the slopes of Celtic Park.
The fans a they all are silent,
As they travel near and far,
No more they'll cheer John Thompson,
That bright and shining star.
So
play up Glasgow Celtic,
Stand up and play the game,
For in your goal a spirit stands,
Johnny Thompson is it's name.
Farewell my darling Johnny,
Prince of players we must part,
No more we'll stand and cheer you,
On the slopes of Celtic Park,
No more we'll stand and cheer you,
On the slopes of Celtic Park.
